Children's Ball Games:

I remember throwing a ball against the wall and chanting a rhyme which began;
'Upsies, clapsies, twiddle your wheels to backsies,
High ball, low ball'
I can't remember the next line and it's driving me crazy!
It went on;
'To touch your elbows(?) to touch your toes, to touch your shoulders and under she goes'
I grew up in Armley in the 1940s. Can anyone remember this game. I want to teach it to my little granddaughter.

Curby.....the art of throwing a ball at a curb then letting it bounce bag.

Put 3 pegs in a arch sharp....throw the ball at them who ever knocks them all down win.
Kick out ball
Very similar to hide and seek......1 persons counts whilst standing near a ball.
The others hide.....when the counter leaves his base (the ball ) to seek the others, the aim is to run and kick the bloody as hard as you can and shout " Kickout ball ".

Don't really have much to add to this subject as we only played reasonably straight forward games, rounders football etc.
But would like to say how much i enjoy reading these posts. I have spent most of my 80 years in and out of Leeds ( not Gloucester Terrace) and your contributions give me great pleasure. Ta. Jack Daly.
