Hi Secret Leeds!

This is the newly-created official account from the Local and Family History department at Leeds Central Library: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/leisure/Pages/L ... rvice.aspx. We're going to be posting here on a fairly regular basis - links to article on our heritage blog (http://www.secretlibraryleeds.net), info about events/workshops/talks and the occasional intervention in those head-scratching cases where we have resources, stock or expertise that will help.

We're also happy to answer general questions about our services and can also take requests to help with specific individual enquiries - but, just so you know, we'll probably have to deal with those in the usual way (i.e. we can only do a certain amount before we have to ask for a payment!).

Just to get started - here is the latest post on our Secret Library blog: http://www.secretlibraryleeds.net/2016/ ... -harrogate

Please also check out this thread from our colleague Sally, who is the Outreach Librarian for the fascinating Historypin project: http://www.secretleeds.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6055

Another new blog entry - this week it's on some of those surprising little details you can find in Parish Registers; and there's the small mystery of the "new Church almhouses" (if anyone has a better answer than our suggestion, do let us know!): https://secretlibraryleeds.net/2016/08/ ... -registers

Thanks

Hi

Please take a look at some new sections on our heritage blog, where we give some more information and images from our Special Collections and those books designated as our Treasures: http://www.secretlibraryleeds.net/special-collections; https://www.secretlibraryleeds.net/treasures.

We do hope to add more books and Collections to the site as we get chance.

Thanks

Hi

Here's the latest article on our heritage blog site: https://secretlibraryleeds.net/2016/09/ ... wilkinson/. We're trailing an event coming up in October, on the history of Leeds theatres. This is to celebrate the launch of a new Theatre Heritage Trail map; we'll be having a talk by the author of that map and a mini-exhibition of our collections.

Free and all welcome! (booking details are in the blog article)
