Around the mid 1940s my Brother I used to travel each day to Mt. St. Mary's school Richmond Hill from the Gipton Estate. part of that journey meant walking along Church Road just above the Marsh Lane area. Opposite a boarded up pub,The Great Northern which had been our Grandfathers was a Railway Stable Yard. From memory it had stables for about a dozen horses. it was empty but by the condition of the straw left in there it could not have been long. On each stable was the horses name but I can only remember two "Thorner Dolly" and "Juno"
Does anyone out there have any information on this place ?.
