Water Lane Closure

There are a lot of conflicting reports going on around this but I can confirm Water Lane is currently closed westbound for the first 30 yards or so from its junction with Victoria Road under the shadow of Bridgewater Place.
I have heard 6 weeks and 6 months mentioned. Roadworks.org suggests that the current closure is until April while BT move cabling and inspection hatches (previously known as manholes) for the next phase. This according to LeedsTravel.Info starts in February and lasts until March2017 (yes 2017) while LCC install "wind baffles" and presumably reinforced barriers due to the turbulence issues generated by BP.
http://roadworks.org/ you will need to search "WATER LANE, LEEDS" as it doesn't allow direct URLs
http://www.leedstravel.info/cdmf-webser ... /leeds.jsp again you will need to zoom in to Water Lane and possibly change the time period to all.
In researching this I also found out that there woould also be further flood defence works along the Water Lane channeled stretches of Hol Beck.
However my main reason for starting this thread is to highlight the dogs dinner of the signposting of the diversion in place although having being stung once diverted traffic will presumably learn. The first indication that I can see of the road closure and diversion is the matrix sign about 10 yards after Manor Road just as Victoria Road straightens up. This is quickly followed by a couple of yellow temporary road signs indicating the diversion is via Great Wilson Street meaning diverted traffic needs to get PDQ three lanes to the left. From my vantage point on a bus both in and out of Leeds I can see no other signs indicating the diversion but given that it can't be via Aire Street and Whitehall Road I can only assume the diversion is GWS>Meadow Lane> across 2 lanes of traffic and a bus lane on Victoria Road to Manor Road.
Now as I say 2nd time round traffic will divert down Manor Road first time instead of needing to loop. But wouldn't it make sense to indicate the diversion before Manor Road and probably before Sweet Street which provides another initial alternative but would be even further than Aire Street>Whitehall Road if having to loop.
