Crockett's cleaners who eventually became part of the Johnson cleaners/workapparell
group have vacated the Stoney Rock site.
They had been there since 1910 according to Leodis.
The old place was probably worn out.
They relocated to Riverside Place,Bridgewater Road.

Demolition appears to be well advanced to the rear of the site.
The building facing Stone Rock Lane is roofless.
Can't see any planning applications on line yet.

I can remember standing on the low wall in front of Crockatts to get a view of the Queen when she visited Burtons Hudson Rd factory , about 1957.

Thinking about it , Crockatts was the big name in dry cleaning in Leeds ( 1950s -60s). It was the first dry cleaners I ever heard of. I have no idea whether they were just a local Leeds firm or part of a national company.

It would appear that Crockatts was founded by John, a local worthy. If you Google "Crockatts the Cleaners" it comes up with some interesting info about the founder. My mother worked there for a number of years in the 50's and she used to take me as a kid to their dances which were held in the canteen. This was at the bottom end of the factory, furthest from Hudson Road on Stoney Rock Lane.

Demolition is almost finished.
The boundary wall facing onto SR lane remains and the height has been
increased by the addition of metal railings presumably for security/safety.
Plenty of bricks for the Famous Leeds Brick Collector's Club to drool over.

Still no sign of any planning permission for the demolition or future use.
