SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

This is not Leeds at all so forgive me for the off site topic.

On the M62 just near the bridge taking the Pennine Way over the motorway there are two boundary stones towards Greater Manchester, that each seem to have two plaques on them detailing some information.

They also have two large red and white roses on each to show entry to Greater Manchester (red) and Yorkshire (white).

My question is, what do the plaques say? I've tried to find pics on the internet but there is nothing. Zooming in on Google Street View show doesnt give enough detail... see here on the east bound carriageway. https://goo.gl/maps/ErN6r

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From memory the plaque marks the official opening of the M62 by the Queen at that spot in 1971. It also has the white & red roses.

The roses are not identical, apart from the colour.
The Yorkshire white rose has a sepal at the base, the Lancashire red rose has a petal at the base.
According to the College of Heralds, the heraldic rose can be used with a petal at the base or with a sepal at the base.
In Yorkshire there is a tradition of using the rose with a petal at the top in the North Riding and the West Riding and a sepal at the top in the East Riding.

Mention on one of the motorway history sites, about a Lancashire highways engineer:

"With the North Western Road Construction Unit, Harry Yeadon worked on the Lancashire side of the M62 trans-pennine motorway, the highest in England. Red and white rose boundary markers on the old Lancashire border with Yorkshire were his own finishing touch."

But, does anyone know what it actually says?

Isn't there a marking for the highest point also?
I know this isn't strictly speaking about Leeds but the M62 is an inmportant motorway to Leeds (why would you want to go from Leeds anywhere?) so I think this is relevant to Leeds as a whole.

Good luck with that! AFAIK the monument is not accessible and you can't just stop on the hard shoulder to take photos.

It's not so easy to get down to the side of the M62 either, very steep and there are fences all round to stop access.

Just surprised me that there are no pics anywhere of them close up.

This is my local junction and a very welcome sight after a long drive.
