Apparently the Barnbow (formerly the Manston) has changed hands and there are plans to refurbish / rebrand it as a carvery...possibly a Toby?

PS isn't the Brown Cow (and Dragon) in Whitkirk? ;)

Last time I was in the Manston pub was with my pal Ken we had a couple of pints (Dutch courage) and then walked into Barnbow factory and up to the canteen for the weekly dance. we copped for two lasses who lived at Bramley town end and deluding ourselves that we were on to something we walked them home. after being promised a "Quick coffee" they went inside and after 20 mins. or so we gently knocked on the door a couple of times "Gerraway or i'll wake me Dad" was enough for us and so we plodded off home to Beeston. think it was about 2 oclock when I finally got to bed, footsore (winklepicker shoes) but no wiser as I think we went up there the following week.
Ah me lost youth

That's only the half of it, having walked these two tarts (50s jargon) to Crossgates fron the canteen its self is a fair walk but after we got a bus to town they said they had missed the last bus home to Bramley, as she was a bit clingy and a had a large bosom, rare in those days except for Aunties and Grandama's we said we would walk them home. as we passed the Town hall they stopped and put on "Flatties" in place of stilettoes and my statuesque blonde became like Bridget the Midget but the die was cast. we trudged up Kirkstall Rd./ Leeds and Bradford Rd. and as you would have read we later got the Elbow. then from Town end we walked to Beeston.

as for Cross Flatts the lad wth me was Ken Elmy and both him and his brother Joe went to that school. as I was a "Catlite" I did not.
As you say Happy days.

Is the Brown Cow not due to re-open on 7 April, or did I mis-read the sign the other day?
