Beech House Headingley

Does anyone know what this old school sign says and to what it might refer? It's at the bottom of the driveway to Beech House on Headingley Lane.

I know the building was a prep school during the 1980s but it was called Beech House School. This sign appears much older and says something like: WIRIESTON SCHOOL.

Any ideas?

Laurieston was a church school opened in Headingly in 1952 by 7th day Adventists.
For more information just google "Laurieston school Leeds" and read the pdf file about the opening of the school -includes a couple of b&w photos.
( I would give the url except it is very long and I haven't quite figured tinyurl yet!)
