The shop/supermarket was Laws Stores and the chippy I think was owned by Greeks and called Helenic or something similar

The chippy was called Amblans or Hamblans.

Laws it was and Hamblens was the chip shop, which lasted a suprisingly long time. Did Laws then become Grandways and move to the other side of Stainbeck Lane to later become Safeways and currently the Co-Op?

Hamblens fish and chips were fantastic - better than Nash's. Best I've ever tasted.

Flickerfree - I do remember the Portacabin TSB, I still have the savings book for there (pre-decimal). Also Grandways where the restaurants are now, but it was Laws supermarket before I left the area in 1977.
