Anyone know what this place used to be? It's on Vicar Lane opposite the Corn Exchange. It were the tall thin arches that took my eye. Not tram linked i would expect as the arches are way to high, a lot higher than needed for trams

Ah yes, that was Brown Bros Giraffe Emporium. Crowds used to gather to watch them being led in and out of those tall arches.

They used to keep them there before taking them to the Circus on Woodhouse Moor. They of course were far too big to fit under any of the underground tunnels!

I also heard it was where the first Pogo-stick police station in the country was created. They used to hop round town catching muggers.

id heard it wasnt a police station but the headquarters of their "arch" enemy ..... norman

Also not seen any referene to this building on Leodis. I think it's just a tall storey! (couldn't resist lowering it again!!!!)

Ha ha ha ha ha !!! everyones a ferkin comedian!!!!!!!!! it may be called somthing else! i only got the name from the small round stone in the center of the building near the top
