I was aware that retractable bollards were put in the road a few years go on the bend near the cottages on the edge of Meanwood woods -it seems that they're usually 'submerged ' now so the road is re-opened. A taxi driver told me that 'someone influential' lived in one of those houses and wanted to have the road closed off to add value to their house. Now its been sold, the bollards are left down. Surely that can't be true? That road has been a thoroughfare for years and, although narrow, speeding wouldnt be an issue due to its steep and winding nature. Therefore I can't see how they bollards could be classed as traffic calming. Does anyone know what the reason given for adding the bollards was and who 'controlled' them . ie raised and lowered them? Was there no public objection at the time to the closure of a road which was well used and the removal of which would entail a lengthy detour via Tongue Lane for people living in the Holmwood estate?

I think they were put in because the road is too narrow for two cars in places. Could be wrong. A lorry crashed into them a couple of years ago and I don't think they've been fixed since.
