I've noticed for some time know just how covered in bird mess is the statue in City Square of Edward the Black Prince on the horse. Looking at the statue as I passed by today (Sept 29 2013) it is badly in need of cleaning. Oddly, I don't recall ever seeing it getting a clean but it must get done but perhaps very infrequently. I suppose that cleaning it would be like the painting the Forth Bridge in that once finished it would soon need starting again!

Do you think it could be because we haven't had a lot of rain this Summer and that's allowed a lot of bird droppings to accumulate?

Hi stutterdog. Yes that does seem a likely cause as to why the statue has so much bird poo on it (I'm being polite there using poo ).
