As a loiner who has been exiled 'darn sarf' for more than 30 years I was rather intrigued by looking at Google Maps for the area where I lived as a lad in Holbeck. Ingram Road School which was two large sooty Victorian buildings (one for infants and one for juniors) seems to have disappeared and been replaced by a single modern looking unit. What happened to the old one ? Anybody know when it was demolished ?

I went to Matthew Murray High School during the 90's just down the road from Ingram Road school. I can vagley remember a teaching telling us a story about Ingram Road school having a fire during the late 80s/early 90's. Not sure if this was in the old school building, or if it had already been re-built by then, or if I'm confussing the story with another story. Not much help realy, sorry!

I attended Ingram Road School in the 1980’s and my recollection is that the old school burned down possibly around 1988/9. The whole school was temporarily moved to Mathew Murray and occupied two floors of one of the blocks. We were housed there for a short time but unfortunately Matthew Murray was the subject of an arson attack. While a new temporary home was located I can recall having a near four month summer vacation. Once a new home was located we were transported by coach to a school every day after pick-up on Ingram Road, unfortunately can’t recall which school. I think the new building opened early 1990.Hope that helps.
