I'd never heard of this (before my time..), found info and a good image gallery + film. Only just post-war."The Festival of Britain Land Travelling Exhibition was held on Woodhouse Moor in Leeds from the 23rd June 1951 to the 14th July 1951. It was opened by the Princess Royal (the sister of George VI), accompanied by the Lord Mayor and other civic dignitaries. That's a blast from the past Jogon. We were taken by our school to the exhibition although I don't remember any of the exhibits. Very interesting pictures.

The Festival of Britain exhibition on Woodhouse Moor was a superb affair at a very happy time of national optimism after the horrors and disruption of WW2.There were just over 400 pupils at Ilkley Grammar School, and we were all taken to the exhibition in two batches. I remember our headmaster announcing that the Ledgard bus company had agreed to provide the transport at cost price - can't remember the exact amount but it was next to nothing. On two different days four double deckers set off from the Ilkley car park for the return journey and a great day out.
