I boarded a bus travelling from City via Harehills and found four guys, certainly in their early twenties, with tuppeny halves to Spencer Place - they refused to cough up the balance to the adult fare - "I'm only ten ha ha" etc. Looking back now I could shiver at my foolishness - I followed them into the Gaiety bar and told the barman not to serve them 'cos they were "underage" - miraculously they just laughed and paid up - but I could easily have been done in.

Yes,you got lucky that day my friend......you might have been "interviewed" by some young lady as to your further movements in the evening....or thereabouts,or hereabouts or in the vicinity......(one for Carry on team)

Mind you, I don't suppose the four tuppeny excess fares would have bought me much to write home about

The entry under Thwaites Mill seems to be a bit out of date. The next special event is on Sunday 19th August - a Teddy Bears' Picnic - where families are invited to come along and spot the teddies. Free boat trips provided by Safe Anchor Trust. I'll be there - come along and make yourselves known - I'll be the boater with the brown leather hat.Be aware that there might be an admission charge to the museum.
