I thought this news item relating to Leeds Town Council may be of interest. It is extracted from a news item dated February 8 1865 in John Mayhall's 'Annals of Yorkshire' vol 2:-"The Scavenging and Nuisance Committee asked for a grant of £6300, for the purchase of land for a manure depôt, adjoining the present depôt, at Crown Point. The proposal was objected to on the ground that it would perpetuate a gross nuisance in the centre of the town, and eventually the resolution was modified so as to restrict the use of the land to the purposes of a wharf for the shipping of the manure. The motion for the purchase of the property was then adopted".I like the 'Scavenging and Nuisance Committee' name. That the "motion" was adopted also amused me.     

Well I suppose all good intent comes to fruition some day.

I avoid it like the plague - its surprisingly unfriendly to walk into as it simply doesn't seem to care some people might walk there. There's no dedicated cycle parking and AFAIK no bus service runs to it. Now, WiggyDiggy, you've reminded me of something I meant to post on here a long time ago. At the far end of the complex (furthest away from Hunslet Road), where the management offices used to be there is what looks to have once been a bus stop. It's sandwiched in the gap betwixt Mothercare and Currys / PC World and is distinctly separate from the roadway.Is it a figment of my imagination or did buses used to run here when it first opened - I'm thinking some type of Shopper Hopper / Micro Rider type service shuttling people in from the distant city centre? http://goo.gl/maps/bT8l
