HiI'm in a local band and trying to organise a photoshoot. We would like somewhere old, like Temple Newsam etc. Can you recommend an old house that is not well known? It may be somewhere that is not advertised, but would make a great opulent, glamorous setting. We would also like, for a seperate shoot, somewhere that is a bit run down, like an old mill or hospital. Somewhere decaying but still beautiful. Can anyone recommend anywhere? Also if anyone is interested in taking photos at the shoot, you're more than welcome to come along.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Teresa

There's a very interesting story on the YEP website today concerning the murder of a female employee of the Queens Hotel in 1947. If it has been covered in the past on SL I apologise but I certainly don't recall reading anything about it. An intriguing story indeed.

For somewhere less "exciting" but more neglected you could try "The Rawdon Carrs" from another post on this site. There are quite a few quirky mansions and faux castles in the area near Apperly Bridge and Rawdon.

For decaying beauty the LGI has some wonderful old buildings that seems to be falling to pieces. Also I'd recommend Woodside Quarry in West Park / Horsforth as the place has a post-apocalyptic look about it, there are ruined buildings, industrial waste and huge lumps of rock lying around everywhere. You'd be able to take a variety of interesting photos there. If you wanted something more like a derelict factory then the old dyeworks just behind where Sandoz used to be at Calverley would be a likely location.
