I would just like to have a little moan. Over the last twelve months i have been haveing treatment at Jimmys and the LGI.Over the last two weeks i have had to go to Jimmys twice this has cost me over ten pounds in parking fees i have to go this Wednesday for a pre assement thats going to cost me another few pounds. My point is why should you i have to pay when it is all part off my on going treatment it all depends which department i have to go to if i have to pay or not.Well i feel a bit better now thats off my chest.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.

Good point Tilly. Another income generation stream for them no doubt. The main problem is that you can't judge how long to buy a ticket to park for can you. If your appointment is at 10am you should technically be able to buy a ticket for 1 hour but you can't chance it because you could be there 3 hours so people tend to buy more time than they need.
Is it me or has Leeds gone mad

Hi Tilly. It is disgusting. There is hospital transport but you wait forever in the hospital to get your lift home and the bus goes here, there and everywhere so it's a long day. I was under the hospital some time ago and had a taxi to/from the hospital regularly and was always compensated for my fares so I was lucky. Someone I know has cancer and has to pay parking fees....it's just so wrong.Hope you're soon back to good health.

It is a disgrace, though I read somewhere that the hospitals don't actually own the car parks, and they are rented out by some other company?Could be wrong, but do remember an article where this was highlighted at LGI where the bods basically admitted the prices were ridiculous but was out of their control.

The charges are very steep-unfair on patient, family and friends alike.I should know.Until only recently,I was going to jimmys 3 imes/week and LGI on average once/week.I still have to go on average once/week so it's cost a lot of money these last 12 months.I believe now that cancer patients are exempt from parking charges(but not their visitors of course). The point about how much time to pay for is so right.....my appts took anywhere between 2 and 6 hours for roughly the same type of consultation and tests. So that was a lottery.

I have had " tickets" issued to me for parking on private land longer than the time paid for. On both occasions I ignored them. Some time later I received threatening reminder letters and I ignored them too. I didn't hear anything further from either of them. What I would point out is that these parking charge notices are not the same as parking tickets (Penalty Charge Notices) issued for highway parking violations. Hospital car parks are private land and the arrangements for parking are generally operated by private companies as a business.A Parking Charge Notice (PCN) is, to all intents and purposes, nothing more than an invoice and is not to be confused with a PENALTY Charge Notice. There is a wealth of advice online - just enter "hospital car parks PCN"JD

It is a begging letter asking you plead guilty and send money. It is just a 'letter'.Part of a slick business system that panics people into paying.Without which - the system would crash, they couldn't cope with the volume.Sadly most people fall for it.

Hi somme1916 Regarding cancer patients and free parking you are partly right if the patient is going for cemo they do not have to pay for car parking allso radio therapy, but if they have to go for a MRI or a CT scan they will have to pay.To go see the doctor they are under at the hospital they will have to pay to park. How it works is cemo you get a printed note to say you have been to that department this gives you free parking.Radio therapy you show them your appointments paper at the car park office they take your ticket put it in a machine this franks it so when you put it in the barrier machine it lets you out. This is at Jimmys were most of your appointments would be what i dont understand is why its free at times and not at others.
