An area of grass on King Lane killed by weed killer (?).

About a week back I first noticed an area of dead grass at the side of King Lane near the Moor Allerton Shopping Centre. It was well delineated and so the grass will have been killed off on purpose (presumably by a weed killer). I am curious why it was done as surely it cannot be a test of the effectiveness of a weed killer as that would already be known. It just seems a curious thing to have done.I took this photo today (May 17 2012) of the dead area that will be approximately 100 ft x 18 ft, so it is not a tiny area. If I had not known I would have thought that something had been covering the ground for many days to have killed the grass, but I pass the area quite often and have not seen any such covering.

I once witnessed Glendales when they first started cutting the grass in Leeds, one guy had a weedkiller pack on his back and spray nozzle contraption. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, he was going round all the areas of grass they couldn't cut quickly on a machine, the awkward bits where they had to use a strimmer, places like along fences, round bus stops, lamp posts e.t.c. He was actually killing the grass to save them needing to strim it.That's disgraceful, grass cutters actually killing grass to save cutting it. They deserved to lose the contract, and the weedkiller spread and made a wide area of dead grass for years, it looked awful.

And no signs for danger. Most weed killer is poisonous for animals so keep your dog off of that patch.

In Weymouth anywhere a camera can see has been polished, painted or both. Most locals are saying if anything needs doing just put Olympics before it and the money will flow as if it's never ending. It seems that entry to the town will be illegal during the games, the only way in is by a Park and Ride bus, (unless you're an official or competitor then Weymouth belongs to you). The PUBLIC park is shut (but for £75 entry you can view the games from there).Most hoteliers and retailers are very worried.
