As a cinema buff..before the days of the multi plexs...i often think back to my local ones..when they were in their hey day before the box invaded all our homes..Brought up in Hunslet and beeston i recall....The pavilion..or the pav...saturday morning matinees..always got two films..and a pathe news..and the mills and dean..adverts..not bad for a bob...then the Crescent which had all the epics..The robe..Solomon and sheba and spartacus..we used to queue down the side for those..now its a errrr...health club...up top was the rex..newly built at that time or seemed it...then the malvern down on the hill beeston rd..only small but very comfy..the same man owned it for years..took a pride in it and stood no nonsense..those were the days...

I was trying to remember when the Pavilion Beeston closed, it must have been some time in the fifties. I only went there once with Mam and Dad to see "The Greatest Show on Earth" I must have been about 6/7 so it would be 1954 ish.

Do you mean Pavilion Dewsbury Road Trojan ??If so, it opened on 4th August 1911, and closed with "Eye Witness" on Saturday 29th September 1956.There was another "Pavilion" at 50 Low Road Hunslet, but that one was renamed to the familiar "Regal" in the 1930s, before our time of course

THE Pavilion was in Stanningley at the junction of Stanningley Rd and Half Mile La if memory serves me correct. it was also the bus/tram terminus.I never knew there were so many others elsewhere (Far Pavilions!).
