Quite ridiculous if you ask me!, where ever there is snow there will be children snowballing each other, the school has gone mad !

Honestly, kids these days:-"He wasn’t throwing ice balls, they didn’t contain stones or pieces of broken glass – there were no hidden projectiles". What a wuss."Handed themselves in"."Safe, kind and respectful". They need to toughen up.And start putting concrete in play areas and under swings instead of recycled soft rubber. We got through 'Bash Street' in the early 1960's and it was all in Black & White.

Totally pathetic if I was on the governing board I would sanction the head for making a laughing stock of the school.

When I was school we used to have massive snowball fights which some of the teachers used to join in.No wonder we live in a namby pamby world with Head techers behaving like this.John

headingleyladNow you mention it, aged about 10 (1969ish) a mate lobbed a snowball at the local Bobby on duty at the busy primary school crossing. He 'returned fire' (v. accurately too) and was subsequently viewed as a local hero and chatted to over the fence.

My wife is a teacher and I can assure that at her school, the kids throw snowballs (at their own risk) and the myths you hear about health and safety at schools written by the press are absolute rubbish, at her school they definately play conkers. I find the ignorance shown by the public towards teachers is appalling. I would love to see these people last five minutes in the classroom.

I can see both sides of the argument. With greedy no win no fee lawyers pouncing on every accident maybe Head teachers are right to ban traditional pastimes but suspension is OTT. They cant argue that pupils attendance must be high to raise attainment then send them home for petty issues.
