How many of us were aware of the new charges at Lotherton Hall?Until recently, you had to pay to park, and all else was free unless you wanted to go into the Hall itself, which had an admission fee. Now, if I understand it correctly, they are charging just to visit the place, your admission to the hall is included and compulsory whether you want it or not.In other words, if you just want to park up for an hour and take the kids to the playground, it's going to cost £15 for a family ticket.See link here for charges:http://www.leeds.gov.uk/lothertonhall/L ... ation.aspx
The older I get, the better I was.

I'm not intending to turn this thread into a pets section but this photo showing the (or perhaps a) cat at Golden Acre Park was taken on March 2 2010. It liked to be stroked. If the same cat is still at the park then it may now be an even tubbier tubby cat. One point I will note is that if it is, or has recently been, wet then the path round the park gets very muddy and slippy in some parts, particularly across the dam end. Also very icy if it has been freezing.

leoThat's the one. It's a charming ol puss and big. Has it's own bed in one of the nursery greenhouses. Came brushing all over me last time I was sat with me flask and crunchy bar in the water garden greenhouse.I've also seen it 'face off' a mid-size spaniel. My money was on kitty. Back to thread, Lotherton Hall is wrong side of town and never really did it for me. Sooner visit Temple Newsam (wonderful walled garden in summer). The Ed may censure me for this, but Newby Hall or Fountains Abbey (latter now on google streetview) a grand day out.

I've always felt that Lotherton Hall was always a bit of a poor relation to the council and it's out on a limb on the far side of the A1 (is it actually in Leeds?)Once of the reasons given for the new charges was that up to half of the people visiting weren't paying the parking fee (which I think was a rather steep £3.50) - so why not enforce it?As other posters have already commented, we won't be visiting Lotherton Hall whilst these fees are in place. It's simply too much in these financially stretched times.
