More from arry...OK,This shows the bottom end of 'the View', and shows a smaller 'Hollow' but not much use for war games! (Too small) Another LAMP POST and a brilliant Tetley's (Sorry, Carlsberg) sign on the gable end of the 'Offy'The steps as I remember, were known as 'The 99 Steps' and led up to Bellevue Road. Actually, there was a similar long flight of steps further down by Irwin's Builder's yard leading up to Bellevue Road, also claiming to be the 99's! Somebody will put me right!

arry again...Another lamp post! This shows the very top of Rosebank View ,joining Rosebank Road followed by a short Ginnel between the houses(still there) through to BelleVue Road The gable ends are the backs of the BVRd houses. You can see the same houses thru the railings across the Hollow in the main pic!Right Munki,(Sound familiar?), I hope these will transfer OK so thatScandy can view them also.I have a few more pix but they need scanning yet. I will also try and sort out some press cuttings relating to the Millennium site. Finding them-that's the prob!

These are excellent pictures, arry awk! & nice to get that personal touch which we don't often see on SL.So, all that said, did we actually decide whether or not this area was used for the original opening to Corrie??? If it's true, I'm suprised it's not something that people make more of. One in the eye for my home city...Yes, I have to admit that I am from the other side of the Pennines. Definitely an 'Adopted Son' though, I hope. There is no place I would rather live than this City of Leeds.

Righto Munki, thanks for your kind comments. The two 'colour' fotos of Bunny show the 'Before and After'views of the same location down to Woodsley Rd, years apart! SO!Publish and be damned!.Bunny won't mind! She's a Sussex Southerner but has learned lots since we came back to 'String o' beads'(Leeds) in '67!Glad you like it here, too! My Grandad was a Salford Irishman!(mind boggling!) and I have been to M/cr and Salford to visit themmany times over the years. Both passed on quite a few years back now! I won't repeat what my son Bill (see foto!) thinks of Man-u!He lives in Denmark now and runs the LUFC 'MOT. website.Gotta go now. Washing up to do!Should be back tomorrow aft. Thanks agen cheers Arry awk

Cheers for those wonderful pictures and comments, 'Arry! And also to Munki for saving me the trouble of posting 'Arry's pic. (Soz 'Arry - forgot last night!)...Hope the new green area stays that way. I didn't know it even existed. If this works - here's a view you'll probably remember, taken from Rosebank View. The missing houses were apparently a direct hit from a German bomb! (photo from the Leodis site )
You can take the lad out of Leeds - but you can't take the Leeds out of the lad.

From arry again...Picture of my wife, Bunny, taken in front of those railings at the top of where the old Hollow was! 2001, I think. The railings have been revamped as you can see but the Hollow and stone blocks and steps still show below. The view beyond is over the new houses looking down over where Rosebank Grove and Westfield Crescent and Rillbank Street were, to Woodsley Rd

hand coloured pic of Bunny in 1950. Same location as 2001 shot!Looking down Rillbank Street to Woodsley Road. Bunny hasn't changed much but the scenery has! Wasn't it grimy in those days?
