dogsdGood archive find, the police HQ ties in with the CID sign still up in Leeds Library then. Linsley Bros had premises on Albion St until they moved to Kirkgate in the '70s?http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL

There is an article about this murder on page 22 of the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) today (July 9 2012). This is the link to the YEP online version http://tinyurl.com/d5e3kll though that does not have any phoptographs whereas the print version has two.

Good post Leodian - you beat me to it this time! The chap who was hung for the murder was a Walter Sharpe, of Brooklands Close, Seacroft - this would have been a nearly new estate at the time (Wiki actually states that the estate was built in the 1950's...). I wonder if he's listed on the thread about infamous Leeds residents...?
