Used to be able to drive up Shire Oak Rd Headingley, down Balbec Av and onto Grove Ln.Similar route took you over Meanwood Ridge avoiding the snarl up of Headingley centre, that was North Grange Rd from Headingley Ln>North Grange Mt>Ridge Terrace>Balbec Av>Grove Lane. Some helpful folk with a landrover moved the obstruction circa 2008 and so it was a secret shortcut. Now closed.

And here's the very obstruction. Wonder who put it up and whether it's authorised?

Geordie-ExWell spotted. At the time I got through it was a massive but down tree trunk that some hero had moved with a Landrover Fairey winch.Shaved 30 mins off the outbound (Otley Rd>Shaw Lane) journey.Pollard Lane was another good 'secret' route but now it's only bikes so it's either Kirkstall bridge or Ring Rd Rodley. Not sure this "helps" in the overall scheme of things.

I lived on Wood lane in the 60s/70s, a much better place when it was closed to through traffic. Short cuts are great but when everybody uses them they're a nightmare for the residents. I might be bitter cos some commuter ran over my cat and I was only 3. ;-D

http://youtu.be/XGY12ANnagk Equally off topic - chances of finding a home for an adult male tabby at this time of year - not a lot.He took up residence under the hedge aside our garage a couple of weeks ago, he will come in for short periods and a warm and then choose to leave again. Suspect he will be joining our other three incumbants for at least the time to come

(I presume you've chosen to call this thread done?)
