SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Apologies for wandering slightly out of the Leeds area (again!), but there is a fascinating photostream on flickr from the Tyne and Wear Archives and Museum.http://www.flickr.com/photos/twm_news/w ... 6515573/It features all sorts of great atmospheric photos of the North East over the years - recent updates include some great 70's shots of the West End clearances and the Grainger Market, which I'm sure will appeal to some. Plus there are a host of pics showing the now largely gone heavy industry in the area.I'll warn you now though that you can quite easily lose an hour clicking through them.

Wonderful stuff. While we're on the topic, though I think Leodis is a fantastic resource, it would be vastly improved by a more modern website with more functionality, a better way of reporting mistakes and submitting corrections, and a more functional way for people to leave their own, very valuable recollections under the photographs.

I think one thing I would like for any future archive, would be for additional, wider shots and better desriptions to enable placing things more easily in relation to the (future) feature which may replace them. For mydelf, I always try to take an additional shot in addition to the eubject item to aid this for myself in time to come.
