My gran and grandad (and for a while, my parents and me) lived on the Rosebanks behind Burley Road, before they were demolished. My dad still maintains that the original opening sequence from Corrie (with the steps and railings) was filmed there, as Granada tv couldn't find owt similar in manchester? Can anyone verify that? I've tried emailing Granada to ask them, without success - nobody still working there who could remember, apparently!

Hi ScandyI joined this outfit last week and the first thread I saw was yours about the Rosebanks!I composed a few lines, reallyjust to confirm that your dad was spot on about the scene put out by Granada just before Corrie!(Years ago now). Anyway, I tried to post my reply and saying I have a picture of that scene. Inever saw my input again! Being new to chat pages I probably pressed the wrong sender! Also found that I couldn't send the 'print' anyway! I have the pic in 'My Docs' but I can't find how to transmit it to a recipient! I'm fine via email but nothing on how to get it on the S/Leeds site!I have a couple more pix also of Rosebank View, where I lived (1937 to '47). These were sent to me ages ago and they areprints off real photos.and maybe of interest to you being a fellow Rosebanks-ite!If you have any clues how I can fwd thes to you pls let me knowCheers arry awk

I have just discovered "Secret Leeds" and have come across a topic of interest to me. I lived in Rosebank View from 1940 until 1953 and can still remember and name many of the residents. We lived at No.77-two doors away from the "bombed building" as we called it. Our surname was King . My aunt, uncle and cousins lived opposite at No.88-the Rutherfords. Brian Moseley lived next door to them I believe and I vaguely remember a slim dark haired young man who used to swing my cousin,Josie, round. If there is anyone out there can remember us please let me know via the site. Perhaps we can share some memories!.

Welcome PattyK. Not wishing to detract from SecretLeeds at all but if you don't have any luck here and in case you don't know. FriendsReunited although originally, and still primarily, for searching for school friends also has the option to register the streets where you have lived and see who else has "admitted" to living there.

Well arry is still around, although he does seem to start posting just as he is called for his tea . So you do still have one ex resident posting/visiting regularly but as this thread didn't get too far you might be more reliant on waiting for "newbie"s

Orright,U cheeky tyke boyo! Just cos I'm a foodie!-----Wife always shouts just when I've hit an interesting thread,Food wins!Hiya PattyK and welcome from an OLD!!!Rosebankian!First, pls click on the 'Have your Say' marker (top of page,)then on 'View the thread'This item has been discontinued,as u willguess, but there are still quite a few old postings up and if u scroll down, you should find my answer to a chap called Bill regardingRBView. I never got a reply from him but I wrote quite a few pointswhich could interest you.At the moment,I'm trying to find a load of pictures which I posted6 months ago,but seem to have disappeared!!!They included Several of the View as it was, including the lower end where you lived, by the blitzed house, and some I took recently of the newRosebank Millennium Green. Well worth a visit if you haven't been! You will see,we lived at No.4 (Top end!) and the Hollow is stillpreserved, complete with steps. There is a tree growing out of where our old "coil 'oil" (Coal Hole)was!I lived there from age7, in 1937 till joining up in 1947.Went toBurley Road School up to 1941 and then on to Brudenell, leavingto face the cruel world at age 14! All for now.will TRY and find those fotos on this site!Cheers Patty, Arry Awk
