Queenies Castle at Roundhay Park

I just came across this clip of Queenies Castle filmed at Roundhay Park in the early 70's that might interest some of you peeps!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV-bU_nV ... ge#t=518sI see the toilets at the Wetherby Road gates are open and immaculate in those days, today they are of course closed and overgrown. Fred Millers much missed Helter Skelter is featured too.

It also shows the area where you got on and off boats on the main lake. That brings back some memories.PS. I didn't recall Queenie's Castle being that slapasticky but I do recall that I enjoyed the programme. Diana Dors was happy enough to leave her glamour girl image. One of the links to other video clips on the webpage with the thread link was to a video titled 'Queenie's Castle England Expects S3 Ep5 Part1'. That has the opening sequence of Queenie's Castle and shows some of Quarry Hill Flats and the market.

Diana Dors played this part magnificently - Leeds accent not QUITE 100% right but who cares - and the three sons were all superb. Am I right in recalling thast the pub scenes were filmed in the City of Mabgate ??

You can read the sign of the pub on this bit of film herehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2X49z9DM9w&fea ... #t=605sThe pub interior was more likely in the studio, and I'm not sure where the Builders Arms was, the whole area looks like it was in the process of being flattened and it's probably changed beyond recognition.

Phill - I dont want to deviate from the thread but it might interest you to know that Freddie MIllers Helter Skelter ( or square slip to give it its proper name ) is still in existance and that Freddie Jnr ( as in Freddie Miller and "Son" ) now owns it. Further more young Freddie is, or was, a member of this very site.I myself have built up and pulled down this slip several times in the past and young Fred is a friend on facebook, I'll drop him a line and point him in the direction of this thread.
