Can anyone please help? I have seen the pics of Nabs End Cottages, Balkcliffe Lane, Middleton http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... PLAY=FULLI have found Balkcliffe Lane on google earth and know the area as it is now, very well, but don't know exactly where these cottages were, can anybody help please? On one of the pics on Leodis there is quite a modern looking building with a tall thin chimney, to the right in the distance, does anyone know what this was? Thanks for reading, Billy.

The caption says the junction of Balkcliffe Lane and West Wood Road - these two roads are on either side of the Ring Road ans look as though they have been significantly disected by the building of part of the Middleton estate.Looking at the map you could imagine Bodmin Road to have been construsted over what could have been the route. It does seem possible that they are no more - but where the two roads met isn't clear. (Tried Old Maps but the site ic not playing ball tonight).

Thanks Chameleon, thats what I was thinking, both roads were probably unfettled, and all signs have been oblterated I was also wondering if this was the original route of the road from Rothwell to Morley, Middleton old village being the "middle town" between the two.

Chameleon is spot on!A put Nabs End Cottages right in the vicinity of Bodmin Road; go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk and tap in the following co-ordinates [E]429146, [N] 428067 and then open the 1894 1:2500 map in Enhanced Zoom!

Thanks Grumpy and Cham, I have a good idea now at exactly where they were. Shame theyre not still there! I walked from The Miggy arms to Morley the other day, via the plantation and the old West Wood Road and was wondering where Nabs End was, I think if you look on Google Earth The cottages would have been just about where the name Bodmin Crescent appears if you have the roads tab on. Please let me know what you think, thanks again and thanks for this site
