This thread is created following an idea from Tasa. The intention is to create a library of links to sites and resources for use when researching topics, providing a single point of reference. Please add links to any sites you feel fall into this category together with a brief note to describe the content. It would defeat the object if discussions or other superfluous messages were posted here and such posts are likely to be deleted to preserve the integrity of the thread.

These are Leeds City Council conservation documents covering most of Leeds. I found them very interesting, with lots of valuable history and info. The documents are very good and go into some detail with colour photos too.The PDF files can be seen on the right here. Edit: updated link -

Originally posted elsewhere by Leodian:I have come across a website that lets users quickly bring up Google maps of Leeds through street names. It may seem a bit baffling at first as there are 96 pages listed under a page number so it can take some guesses the first time used to get to the alphabetical list containing the street name you want, but it is easy enough to work out. It does seem to me to be an easy way to get into Google maps of an area you want. This is the link:-

A history of Lands Lane, containing many photos from Leodis and other sources, by someone researching their family history (the Land family). They are not claiming that Lands Lane was named after the Land family but their research makes good reading:
