Google maps 3D view.

Google Maps and Street View are excellent. I have though just been looking at the central area of Leeds and somehow I got into the 3D view. Wow, that is fascinating but strange! Perhaps the strangest I saw was the railway line shortly after it crosses Briggate going east when it suddenly falls vertically!

How do I get into 3D view in google maps? (Sorry if it's a silly question)

I presume I must have 3D installed on my Google Earth program! I have just been to the same area again but I have not been able to get into the 3D view! I often find Google Earth/Street View to be difficult to navigate.

On the left hand side of the page on Google Earth, is a box that says 3D buidings click/tick it to turn it on or off. Though the Bing Maps "birds eye" view is, I think, better. Google looks a bit cartoonish.

Google looks a bit cartoonish. Thanks liits. That got me into 3D but I really must figure out how to use it! I squashed most of the buildings and others were very large and I could not find a way to get into a normal 3D view! Mind you it did not help that for ages I just could not work out where I was in Leeds until I realised I had the North direction pointing the wrong way that would be the usual view!

Annoyingly switches to street view as you zoom in to view detail of ground features, seemingly avoiding all atempts to stop it - unless someone knows how? If you zoom in too close it will "grab" the ground based view. I'm sure that future version will sort this out but at the moment, that's the way it seems to work.
