U1 is I believe still the mayoral car plateThe one for sale is the original cast aluminium plate said to havebeen presented to the chauffer on retirement for loyal service.Worth more than 20 odd quid I woulod have thought.Next bid is ?????

Thanks for that - as you say, if the actual number for current use on the road was for sale you would be talking many many thousnads of pounds !!

Thanks for that - as you say, if the actual number for current use on the road was for sale you would be talking many many thousnads of pounds !! In fact, it's likely to be worth that much (six figures?) that I'm surprised that the council don't consider selling it to offset those nasty cuts that they keep banging on about."The most expensive personalised number plate ever registered in the UK was ‘F1’ which cost the owner £440,625." Even without the motorsport connotations, I can't see that U1 (You Won), properly marketed, isn't worth at least £250,000.The occupants of the Civic Hall shouldn't be crying the poor tale when they are sitting on something that is worth that much and that serves no necessary purpose.A replacement (L300 LCC) can be sourced direct from DVLA for £255. Bargain.
