I don't normally advertise my events on here, but I know some of you guys will be interested in this.I'm managing celebrations for Armed Forces Day this year, which will include...A flyby by a Lancaster Bomber over Leeds City Centre, at 2.35 this Saturday afternoon - along the length of the Headrow.Events, stall, military vehicles old and new all day on Millennium Square on Sunday 26th (11am - 3pm).A homecoming parade for 4 Para, 4th Battallion the Parachute Regiment, who are based at Thornbury Barracks and have recently been serving in Afghanistan at 1pm on Sunday 26th, starting and ending on Millennium Square.Special thanksgiving Evensong at the Parish Church from 3pm on Sunday 26th.It would be great if some of you could be there. All the best,Munki.

Thanks for the advice munki.I'm in Leeds on Saturday morning first thing, but it sounds like I'll have to persuade mrs ravey that we should hang about a bit longer.Do you know if the Lanc will be going east-west, or west east? If I know it might help me decide where to try and take some pics from Sunday sounds like it would be worth a trip into town too. It's a crying shame that these events have had so little publicity (this is the first I've heard of any of them).

Flying from the West to the East along the Headrow, with the possibility of a further North - South fly-by if they have the time.

Thanks for the heads up on this, It,s a pity that the local media have not being very vocal about this fantastic event, Leeds needs to show the support for all our service Guy,s and Gals.

Quarry Hill could be a good spot then - except it's at the opposite side of town to where I've got my free secret parking place... Another option might be in front of the Art Gallery (Victoria Gardens?).

Good stuff. I think I'm going to try get a shot from Victoria Gardens as there is some other stuff on there today as well, so there should be plenty to see. I'm planning on getting there about 2pm, just in case!Fingers crossed...

Where's this blinkin' Lancaster? I've been stood at my bedroom window in Bramley looking towards the city centre for 30 mins & not a peep.I better not have missed it when I popped for my binoculars!

Sorry guys, Lancaster grounded in Edinburgh with engine trouble.Lots to see on Millennium Square tomorow - vintage & contemporary military vehicles, & a homecoming parade by 4Para. Open to the public from 11, parade at 1300 hours.None of the above is reliant on weather or engines working!
