'Roundhay Live' and the Roundhay Ward Neighbourhood Design Statement (completed, adopted and published)You will be pleased to know that, since my last communication in November 2010, the Roundhay Ward NDS has been adopted by Leeds City Council as a supplementary planning document (SPD). Its content has to be taken account of by designers, planners and developers. SPDs can also be referred to in evidence to planning enquiries.We have now had it printed. It is a 70-page, full colour A4-sized booklet illustrated with maps and colour photographs The NDS includes chapters on: The history of Roundhay Ward illustrated with historical maps Its two Conservation Areas One chapter for each of the 12 distinct areas (Character Areas) of Roundhay Ward examining their built form, landscape and movement, their listed and notable buildings and structures, and opportunities for enhancement of their built & natural environment Protected, unprotected and recently lost green spaces in Roundhay Ward Tree protection orders - map of locations Guidelines for the design of new developments in the built and natural environment of Roundhay Ward Recommendations for future actions and management plans that reflect the requirements of residents for the built and natural environment of Roundhay WardThe Neighbourhood Design Statement represents your views as residents of the area, as expressed at our workshops and public exhibitions.The NDS will be on sale for just £5 per copy at our stall at the REAP (Roundhay Environmental Action Project) 'networking ' event, 'Roundhay Live', from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday the 18th of June in Roundhay Park by the North Leeds Cricket and Bowling Club ground and green opposite Roundhay School.
