Maybe its just a lack of observance on my part but about a month ago I spotted for the first time a large white object in the distance when approaching Leeds on the M621 just past the Belle Isle Road. The closest observation I have made of it is on Dewsbury Road at the point Jack Lane west splits off. From theses distances it appears to be a huge Marquis outside the front of Armley Jail. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it actually is and how long I have been missing it for?

I would like to say that it's temporary accommodation for Human Rights lawyers to take instruction for prisoners to be released on the grounds that their rights to rape/burgle/assault/drive whilst disqualified etc. have been breached by imprisonment. However, having passed the bottom of Gloucester Terrace twice in recent days, the more prosaic reason seems to be plastic sheeting round scaffolding for building repair work.

It is visible from the top of Bell Hill close to the Rothwell Whale jaw bones and as I say from that sort of distance it certainly looks like a marquis and while your first answer seems plausible the 2nd answer makes sense.
