Mate of mine in Otley emailed me today saying he just had a session on the Kirkstall pale ale.He reckons its brewed somewhere close to the old Kirkstall brewery at the bottom of Broad.Can anyone add any more info ?Now "Burley bitter" has a nice ring about it. One day maybe.Cheers

After some years in planning work has finally been completed on the site, so expect to see a mix of regular, special and experimental beers. First up though is the 5.5% Black Band Porter and the hoppy Kirkstall Pale Ale at 4.0% .Cheers    

Unfortunately courtesy of an old Kirkstall Brewery now used as Students residences , the best I can find is "8 barrel unit in an industrial estate". The Head brewer is the S (Saunders) in E&S of Elland Brewery and the owner also has involvement in a company called Vertical Drinks.

The unit is next to the canal 0ff wyther lane. not the units next to the railway, but cross the canal and on the right. Missed the first pale ale in my local as I was on holiday. Told that the beer was put on on wednesday and it was gone on thursday evening. All 18gall. Damn. Shoud have holidayed in Rodley! Told it was a very good beer though.

I don't know if they are back to brewing there as I think all their brewing stuff was removed in about 2002.

Seems a long time since the F & N was the Rutland Arms and was severely damaged by an internal gas explosion - I believe it was a Ramsden's house in those days BMBW.

This message might be a wee bit off track, but should anyone want to know, there was another brewery in Kirkstall, The Holme Brewery, on Wyther Lane, owned by P Chapman, which brewed between 1903 and 1910.
