SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Does anyone please know where this building is, and what its present day function might be ?? A friend of mine has been asked to give a talk there and has never heard of the place and nor have I. The only reference on Leodis is to an advertisement hoarding at Woodhouse Square long ago.

The Leeds City Museum was the Albert Hall in a former life. The building opened as the Mechanical Institution and Literary Society in 1868 and included a library, study room, reading rooms, and an art galley on the first floor, which also included some rooms which used by the City's School of Design. The main part of this large building however, was a circular lecture hall called the Albert Hall, and it was this that eventually became the Civic Theatre.    

Many thanks indeed salt' n pepper for that which is quite fascinating to say the least. I had got my wires partly crossed in my query - the lady who asked my pal to give the talk had mentioned that Mr. Rowland Winn (the former Vauxhall dealer with a garage and filling station opposite the top of Cookridge Street) had before WW2 organised a model railway exhibition "in the Albert Hall" - so this ties up nicely !!
