I wonder if anyone else saw the rainbow visible between about 15:15 to 15:20 this afternoon in about the NE. I saw it while I was on a bus coming from Leeds on Scotthall Road around Potternewton Lane area and after. The rainbow was very bright but also the broadest I've ever seen, with each colour well spread out. It was also low down and looked flatter than a rainbow is usually seen. There was a paler but normal looking reflection rainbow above it which seemed further from the main rainbow than a reflected rainbow is normally seen.Sorry that this is not really a topic for the Secret Leeds site but the main rainbow was most unusual so I thought it worth posting about. Please accept my apologies if it is of no interest. It may be scientifically interesting being so broad.

Reminds me of the old Stones song Shes A Rainbow 18 May 1967She comes in colours everywhere; She combs her hair She's like a rainbow Coming colours in the air Oh, everywhere She comes in colours Have you seen her dressed in blueSee the sky in front of you And her face is like a sail Speck of white so fair and pale Have you seen the lady fairerShe comes in colours everywhere; She combs her hair She's like a rainbow Coming colours in the air Oh, everywhere She comes in colours Have you seen her all in goldLike a queen in days of old She shoots colours all around Like a sunset going down Have you seen the lady fairer

Nice one buffaloskinner. It reminded me of the saying "A rainbow is a ribbon that Nature puts on when she washes her hair".

I once saw a round rainbow over Pudsey.
