Painting by numbers (Wellington Street, Boar lane and City Square)

What's happened to the bus shelter in City Square? Is it something to do with the green containers that have appeared behind where it used to be? Are these containers something to do with either (a) the threatened "policing" of the bus box by cameras recently advertised and newly signposted and/or (b) the multi coloured markings that have appeared on the road surface of Boar Lane at least from New Station Street back to City Square and on Wellington Street at least from City Square to Kings Street? Answers on a postcard please

a sign on the shelter the other week(I use it to get home from) said the electric was being cut off as the shelter was going to be upgraded.

It's probably also the traditional getting as many roadworks as possible started before the end of the financial year to avoid budgets getting cut. As well the new bus lanes being built between Kirkstall and the YEP building Yorkshire Water have decided they're going to spend another 2 months replacing sewers between Hawksworth Rd and Kirkstall Forge. I moved to Horsforth in 2006 and I think there's only been one year out of 5 when Kirkstall Rd hasn't been dug up for something or other.

Agreed, it's a nightmare - my route to work takes me along the whole length of Kirkstall Road and its roadworks, and then, just when I thought it was safe, they started resurfacing the A65 on the next bit of my route between Horsforth roundabout and Rawdon. More temporary lights, more delays!

It looks like the purple slug is getting a shelter round the corner on boar lane. Its less angular (curved roof) and more metallic in colour (no red metal) so I guess that's probably what the upgrade will be. However, at a time when public services are being cut I can't help think "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The removed shelter was a reasonably recent installation and fully functional.Anybody any idea what the multi coloured road grafiti is?

The stop is closed from today for two weeks while they install the new shelter (presumably). The 446 has been shifted to a stop on Infirmary street, all other services have been shunted back to the stops at the bottom of Park Row. Problem is at 5:15 PM there are 3 buses due at the City Sq stop in a couple of minute period. At least 2 of the 3 are invariably early and as it is a timing point for all 3 and the start point for 2 of the 3 all sit there until their departure time. The stops at the bottom of Park Row have a similar issue as being either the start point or terminus of buses that invariably arrive early too. Result tonight buses having to pull onto the footpath adjacent to Mill Hill Chapel

The multi coloured markings are to show where gas, electric, water, telecoms equipment are under the road, for the electric cables that are to be laid for the new Trinity Development.

Thanks fluffysheep that would make a little sense. However I would have to reiterate , and it is admittedly viewed from the top deck of a bus, that the markings don't appear to extend eastwards on Boar Lane past New Station Street (short of Trinity) and does extend beyond city square onto Wellington Street at least as far as King St.
