SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Hi guys.I decided to document what little left there is of the old Victorian era still standing around Holbeck. The area is changing fast these days.I've included scenes from up on the railway viaduct, the Dickensian subways, forgotten ginnels and yards, and i took a look at all the nooks and crannies down in the Hol beck culvert.There's lots of archive shots, plenty of steam for the railway fans, and old maps.The story is in two parts.My walk around Victorian Holbeck can be seen herehttp://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=265602590&blogId=539964126I hope you enjoy

Still can't believe the craftmanship of some of those arches. Excellent historical record.

Fantastic Job, I have never read anything similar which brings the whole area together so clearly.    

I thoroughly enjoyed both parts. Excellent work Phill. Your obvious interest and delight of old structures comes through well.I liked the comparison photos. It is also amazing how rapidly things can change, such as the nostalgic shots of steam trains in the early 1960's.

I add my congratulations on an excellent piece. I used to work in Holbeck and only viewed these places from a distance, I don't think I would have dared venture into some of the places you have been!

Well done Phill what a great record of Holbeck an area i have known all of my life.But has it turns out not so, your a credit to our site.All this work must be put in a book as stated, how about An History Of Industrial Holbeck i would be one of the first to buy it once again well done.
