Looking round the web it mentions he appeared at the City Varieties as a dancer with the "Eight Lancashire Lads" in 1897.But does anyone know if any Playbills exist - suspect he wouldn't be named in person. Also didn't Stan Laurel stand in for Chaplin in another troupe(Not sure which is Charles in the photo) Leodis also mentions that he visited (appeared?) at the Empire Theatre on Briggate

thats why the back of the city varieties had a cut out of Chaplin on it along with other celebrities who appeared there such as harry lauder.I don't know if they have all survived the revamp.Harry Lauder was still there last time I looked across from the cafe.
