Just a bit of information for anyone in the areaIt's the 'Abbey Runners' race on Sunday, it starts at 09:30, & should all be finished for 11:30 - 12:00http://
www.abbeyrunners.co.uk/Races/eccup10.htmlHere's the course map, so you can look at any journey alterations you might need to make? It's mainly around the Eccup reservoir/Five Lane Ends area though.(i'm not sure if the roads are closed, or just 'barriered'/marshalled??
http://www.abbeyrunners.co.uk/Races/eccup_course.htmlI might be tempted to drive up & have a go, unless I go down into Derbyshire, & enter a fell-race to the west of Stocksbridgehttp://
www.fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?id=415There's also one up at Cullingworth (could come back via Bradford, & go for a curry!!)

The road past Adel church is actually closed for a while. We will be taking a few entries on the day. Go to Abbey Runners website for more info.

I hope it is not too warm for the runners. Is the full course really 10 miles as it does not seem like it would be that far when I occassionally walk much of the course? If so I must be fitter than I thought!

How did it all go for you up there??I decided to go 'off-road' instead, & headed down to Stocksbridge for the 'Broomhead Chase' It was a fair bit shorter, but undoubtedly had more climbing!!!I'm biased too, but I reckon my choice was a lot harder!3.5 miles/800feet of climbinghttp://

The results are up for mine now!
http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showthre ... 07027th/75 @ 33:48 What an atrocious time for only 3.5 miles!!, but it shows how steep it was!The climbs were ........damned hard, & constantly steep! Search for Wigtwizzle on 'MultiMap' - & go to 'OS' ('up-scle to 'Explorer'/Pathfinder)We ran from 'Broomhead Hall, due north, over the Beck, & up to the 'Trig-Point shown (to the north) - look at the contour lines!!!! We ran to a higher point than the road over 'The Strines' before it dips down to the first valley!Coming back we shadowed the beck, from almost the road hairpin-bend (shown, with the double-arrows), it was also damned muddy in a few places on the descent (natural springs?) - I had a 'tide-mark' just under my knees!
