Does anyone remember the Phoenix Folk Club organised by Jon Rennard. It was at various venues from RAOB Club to a Club in East End Park area to the Irish Centre . I think it was also at the Adelphi upstairs where I saw the legendary Tony Capstick.

Jon Rennard did try his hand at running a Folk Club but the venues at the ROAB, Aldelphi and Irish Centre were the Club Memphis which was organised by John Wall. Tony Capstick performed on many occasions at the Memphis as did Jon Rennard as a solo singer and with the Jug & Bottle Washers Jug Band.

I recall Jon Rennard from the early seventies, in fact I have his albums ~ Brimbledown Fair and The Parting Glass.Sadly he was killed in a road accident, I did a short article about him here on my Parlington info site:
