thanks for that. how do you know all that? could i find a street map anywhere from that time? also do you know when and why clifford street and surrounds got demolished?

Just chanced it on Leodis. You can get old maps of leeds from the Museum shop.As for when they were cleared, I'm not sure, possiby the 50s, I think they were among the first to be cleared. I'm sure someone will know.

IIRC these terraces, particularly the lower ones suffered from bad damp and flooding of the cellars, being in the bottom of the valley. Also I think upto the line of Cavendish Street is also at risk of flooding in the event of a big flood.

Hi everyone,There is a photograph on Leodis of Cavendish Street/North Hall Street/Clifford Street, and the legend states that the area was cleared in the late 1950's.http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... _33027285I have a copy of Austick's 'Tellway', dated 1968, and none of the streets, on the above aerial photograph, appear in it, so the information appears to be correct.Ian
