Well we've certainly had plenty of snow over the last week - but am I the only who is getting a little fed up with it?The initial picturesqueness has worn off and we're left with lots of dirty grey snow at the roadside and where it hasn't melted what is left has become rock hard, super slippery packed ice.We went up to Golden Acre this morning to take the hound for a walk and found that Arthington Lane car park to be a skating rink - literally every flat surface was covered in hard packed down and refrozen snow making even getting out of the car a challenge.On a lighter note though it was almost worth the looks on the faces of some 4x4 drivers who must have imagined that 4-wheel drive wouldn't be affected. Yes, you might have a little more grip, but the laws of physics still apply, especially when trying to stop two tons of Land Rover! Similarly the paths were just the same, meaning that the poor dog had his walk abandonded after a couple of hundred yards. Even with appropriate footwear we were struggling to stay upright.Another less desireable aspect of the white stuff covering the ground served to highlight just how many disgusting people still don't clear up after their dogs. A dog warden at Golden Acre would make the council a fortune in fines!

Yep!!There's still a hell of a lot of them around who believe that the Laws Of Physics (especially kinetic energy, & the stopping thereof) doesn't apply to them, whichever breed of 4x4 they own.Studded tyres/snow-chains are the only answer, but impractical 99% of the time in this country (even in winter'Keg' & myself have been long-time Solihull product owners, & hopefully understand the finesse needed to operate Landies in a wide mixture of terrains/surfaces.I will admit this though; our XKR has stayed in the garage throughout this inclement weather; as even with Traction Control a supercharged 370BHP (370+ Ib/ft of torque) V8 wouldn't need much persuasion to inspect the nearest wall/hedgerow backwards

It means: rear-wheel-drive + fat tyres + snow = accident. You should have bought a 2CV!!!
