Good news, if England gets the World Cup.There will be a lot of work to do though as the bid involves substantial improvement work at Elland Road (as well as other stadiums)

I didn't think we would get any of the matches if Sheffeild was in the mix, particularly the way things have gone lately. Just hope England get to stage the World Cup now!

As Yorkshire people I think we should be proud of having two of the country's largest cities within our boundaries - and believe me the old "city" of Sheffield was very big in area - 13 miles wide, 7 miles deep - that's as big as the island of Jersey.Sheffielders are a bit of a race apart, but then so are people from Middlesborough which traditionally is also in Yorkshire. Personally I'm proud that our county embraces people who are almost midlanders, to people who are almost Geordies - in the west of the county near Whitewell in the Trough of Bowland are people who speak with a strong Lancashire accent but who claim to be born in Yorkshire (east of the River Hodder) all proud to be Yorkshire. I'm Yorkshire first, a Leodensian second (not a Loiner I wasn't born in the old city ) and then British (not English although I am)
