Been wondering this for a while, but why is there a big "76" in the top entrance of the Victoria Quarter, same side as Harvey Nicks?They've got it labelled up as "76 reasons to shop" but its a bit of a random number.

There are 75 shops in the Victoria Quarter ...... I suppose the 76 reason to shop there is that it's under cover !?! Edit.... there are 76 shops not 75

They missed out a couple of words from that slogan: "76 overpriced pretentious reasons to shop"

It starts at the Leeds Bridge end - goes consecutively up the west side to the Headrow junction, crosses over and runs down the east side back to Leeds bridge. However 76 is definitely not Harvey Nicholls which is at 107 to 111.

In about 1882 my Grandad moved from Holme on Spalding Moor to become an apprentice tailor (living in upstairs with about a dozen other staff) at an even numbered shop on the north side of the Angel Passage. He married a seamstress who lived in Sheepscar (bet that seemed a long trudge for a bit of courting). It would be interesting to be "transported back" to those times for a while.

It would make sense if it referred to 76 Briggate, because that's the address of the first Marks & Spencer shop which they opened after the market stall.

I think it does relate to the number of shops. It says on the 7 something like "76 reasons to shop"
