I was told today by mi mam that a new Morrison's store was been built next to the resevoir on Harehills Lane. The site looks a little to small for a supermarket so i googled it & apperently there is a planning application for Morrison's to take over the old Tradex site. Does any one know any more about this??? We have always wanted to try a Morrison's but living in Gipton, or GPT as my teenage daughter calls it!!! Hunslet & town are the only stores we know of near.

Hi,I too have heard that Morrisons plan to put a superstore on the old Tradex site. Also that it is going to be a Lidl or Aldi on the old waterworks site.

Looking at the planning application it says the application for a Morrisons at the Tradex site has been approved, which is great news for the area. Wonder if Tesco has any thoughts on the matter as I presume it will have some affect on the Extra on Roundhay Road.

Good news for this side of Leeds, although I wouldn't have thought it will be the biggest of stores, given the size of the site?

Here's hoping its a full-size one with their typically good selection of ales and food, the Merrion Centre one's a bit packed and a fair trek from here.

That would be interesting - they already have a store at the junction of York Road and Barwick Road a couple of miles away which already has planning permission for redevelopment into a much needed bigger store - no doubt prompted by Aldi having bought and secured planning on the site of the former Lion and Lamb pub opposite.

Once again as a Morlean I wonder why none of the continental supermarkets feel they'd benefit from an outlet in Morley. Netto and Aldi are next door to one another in Batley, Netto are on Old Lane. Lidl (my favourite of the three) are in Dewsbury and Ossett. But nothing in Morley. Are they frightened of Morrisons? or Asda?Sainsbury's whilst technically in Morley is really at the White Rose. It's a puzzle - like Weatherspoons not having an outlet here either.
