sad to see that Ainsleys are in administration.I always preferred their stuff to greggs although I use both.I remember a few years back,I did a radio talk on Easter customs for Radio Leeds. The daughter of Ainsleys founder was also there ,and brought a huge basket of stuff which I ended up taking home.It was my first taste of Simnel Cake!

I agree with you Steve, the food is FAR better than Greggs. I use there little mobile shop ouside the bakery some times. Piping hot pasties and stuff mmm It hasn't all ended just yet tho, there trying to find a buyer for a takeover (although in this climate it looks bleak)I'll miss the little shed on wheels outside the bakery if it closes

Will we find out why they have gone into administration?I always thought that the profit margins on food was very high.

"ALMOST 300 jobs are at risk after Yorkshire bakery chain Ainsleys went into administration, blaming rising food prices, energy costs and "severe competition" on the High Street."I take it that by "severe competition" they mean Greggs!!!Best wishes,Han.

I must say Ainsleys products are far better than Greggs the trouble is that all the school children seem to go to Greggs. We have both outlets in Pudsey and from what i have seen the above is the case and as we all know the spending power of school children can make or break a business.

it also struck me that the insidious spread of Subway shops was probably hitting Ainsleys badly. I have lost track of how many there are in Leeds now!
