There was a huge warehouse across the road from quary hill flats which stored coal -myself and half the estates other ragamuffins would go and "play" in it sliding down the coal shutes until an accidental fire burnt it down - we watched it fry sat on the banks of the quarry hill flats - I was there when the fire started although my lips are sealed! I was about 7/8 years of age at the time - shame it was a good playground although dangerous as some of the chutes had open drops of about 20/30 feet

Not sure of its name sounds right, they then built a concrete factor next to it blue circle cement thinking about it... the fire started on the top floor of the building in what was probably the highest office/room in the building - the whol ething went up I remember thinking (I'm in the sh** here...) thankfully no one was hurt / injured although I'm surethe authorities would love to know what happened.... perhaps we should start an honest website for confession!!

I'd keep quiet if I were you, or whoever it was. I suspect you/they can still get done for the crime.

and if someone had been killed or injured??? you wouldn't be bleeting on about now would you???

I saw the fire that day,we were on our way to town on the bus and we were stopped at the Woodpecker junction.Im sure the warehouse and its fire has been mentioned on another thread somewhere

Speaking of Quarry Hill Flats, I have a copy of the original Guiness Book of Records, and there is a picture of the flats in there - the largest block of municipal flats in the world.
